" A portrait of my daughters once a week, every week in 2015"

Lottie Cakes: Your first taste of snow during a fun filled week in Denver to kick off our USA Christmas trip this year. There were snowmen made, snow angels created and for once you finally and truly understood the need to wear a coat. We had such a fun experience with your American cousins and hope its not too long before we're reunited again!

Rosie Lou: You're even smiling when you yawn girl! Your first overseas trip went over a charm, you're a natural jetsetter and the perfect partner to cuddle up to your big sister on these too long flights. We'll enjoy these next couple trips while you are still too small to wreck havoc and are just the right size to cuddle up for trip halfway around the globe.

"A Portrait of my daughters, once a week, every week in 2015"

Lottie and Róisín: Our final week in Australia before we head North for the holidays. We have been preparing and getting everything in order - which means many days spent in our pyjamas and just being home and together. This photo meant to measure Rosie entering her third month (however did that happen so quickly?!) was photobombed by a big sister who just couldn't resist a cuddle.

" A portrait of my daughters once a week, every week in 2015"

Grand Final Day

Rosie Lou: Róisín the dream. Girl, if I could design a baby, that babe would be you. You are 2 months old, sleeping huge stretches during the night, when you do get up for a feed you wake me with the sweetest of coos and then smile and giggle at me before drinking a bit and falling back to your little dreamland. Your squishy cheeks and baby bits are still as soft as the moment you came out and you look like a mini elfin creature that should be frolicking the forests laughing all the way. I hope I don't jinx myself (and as a somewhat experienced mother, that is most certainly what I am doing) but someone surely cut me some slack with you after 3 1/2 years of raising (chasing!) a redheaded wild child!

Lottie Cakes: You were the big winner of the day and here you are loading your riches, all twelve dollars and fifty cents of them, into your little blue piggy bank with the sass you apply to most things in life. This week you learned a few flamenco moves so your dress you insist on wearing daily is no longer just purely decorative. Your wild, have a ridiculous fashion sense and an untamed flair for the dramatic, you may look nothing like your dear old ma but we share many many of the same traits :)

" A portrait of my daughters once a week, every week in 2015"

Lottie and Róisín: Happy Halloween!!
After 30 costume changes and a dramatic exit (heres looking at you Red!) we headed off for some ghoulish fun in St Kilda and finished the eve snuggled up on the couch with sweet treats and Tim Burton. 5 Halloweens ago I met your crazy Father, spent the weekend painted blue and hitchhiking all over the Southwest of Ireland together. Who knew half a decade later we would have created two beautiful little creatures and the wild weekend would belong to them?!
I just love a good surprise :)

"Portraits of my daughters once a week, every week in 2015"

Lottie Cakes: Lately you've been telling me you're not a kid, you're a three year old girl, growing bigger every day! That you are I agree, but you're forever mamas baby. The other day I ran into the kitchen to retrieve something mid-movie and when I came back the television was paused. I asked if you did that, surprised you knew how and you answered of course! before walking away, then turning your head back to me to add, And THAT'S a three year old girl! I guess you told me little one!

Rosie Lou: Girl, you melt my heart with your constant smiles and throwing your head back in silent fits of laughter - what 6 week old baby cracks up like that?! You live in the crook of my arm and while the dishes pile up and the laundry sits unfolded I know these days are limited so I let them without regrets while I stay cuddled up next to you.

" A portrait of my daughters once a week, every week in 2015"

Lottie and Róisín: My girls. Lottie Cakes you try my patience way way past the limit since your little sister has come into the world BUT I take solace in the fact that towards her you show nothing but gentleness and sweet sisterly love. When she cries you sing to her and cuddle her up, when she wakes you give her all the snuggles to welcome her to the new day and your favorite activity is holding her close, which you've perfected the technique from day one. Watching you two grow together is my biggest joy little ladybugs. xo

" Portraits of my daughters once a week, every week in 2015"

Lottie Cakes: My girl in all her finery. A trip to the zoo is no excuse for anything less than fabulous ;)
You have been taking your new role very seriously and when asked if you like being a big sister you reply with "Yea, but it's hard work!" You poor overworked soul, it must be so tough!
Seeing you girls together is a new love and oh how sweet it is..

Rosie Lou: It's funny how quickly personalities form. We joke that your sister came out cheeky, she was silently giggling at us long before her vocals came. You, my girl, have a much subtler way about you. A twinkle in your eye and a sweet little smirk are more your style. You sleep so much we tease that you are just faking, opening one eye to see what this wild family you were thrust into is up to before retreating back to your faux peaceful dream land. Whatever the story is, it will reveal itself as you grow and I love being along beside you for the ride my gentle lady.

Lottie & Rosie: My girls with their biggest fan. They say your daddy sets the bar for all men who are to come into your life in the future, if that theory is true than you are 2 lucky girls and mama can rest easy knowing you've seen the best from the start and know exactly what to look for. My heart in one photo, who knew a wild weekend in the forests of Ireland and a smooch in the rain five wonderful  years ago would be the stepping stone to such a beautiful story?

Lottie Cakes: Pretty as a picture in your newly arrived dress.
Rosie Lou: Impromptu photo shoot when your mama was stuck indoors and your first roses happened to match beautifully with your very first dress :)
Lottie and Rosie: Two girls, sisters, so beautifully different already and special in their very own ways.

Rosie Lou: Our Tiny Elfin princess, who has finally been named (two weeks in:))
Lottie & Rosie: The day we brought our littlest home, The look on Lottie's face says it all! xo

"Portraits of my DAUGHTERS! once a week ever week in 2015"

Lottie Cakes: My sweet little mermaid basking in the bliss of big sisterhood.
Rosie Lou: Does it get lovelier than you?
Lottie & Rosie: Love at first sight, two sisters meeting and falling in love. One proud mama bear.

A name for our lovely lady ...

After weeks (2 to be exact) of deliberation we have decided on a name for our newest little lady. We had a few names picked out but when she came she was the sweetest little soul, gentle and light and the choices we had made before meeting her seemed all wrong. So here she is, our darling little
Róisín Lois

Róisín - a lovely and special name from Ireland, where her parents met and fell in love in the majestic green countryside. It means 'little rose' and is also the way the Irish kept their patriotic song and poetry alive in the sixteenth century after it had been outlawed. They would disguise their nationalistic verses and love songs and sing of "Róisín Dubh" (Dark Little Rose) as the poetic symbol for their country.

Lois - For my great grandmother, Róisín and Lotties Great Great - who, luckily for us, is still around today. She is the gentlest woman on earth who helped raise me under the Appalachian sky, barefoot amongst the hummingbirds and sunflowers. All through Rosie's first week of life and occasionally even now I can smell her and its the sweetest smell I know.

Welcome to the world Little Rosie, our gentle little butterfly. xo

And then there were four ...

Last Thursday we welcomed this little lady into the world under the beautiful August moon. We are still searching for a name as sweet and gentle as she and in the meantime we are stealing all the newborn kisses, snuggling cheeks made of the softest material on earth and watching (and joining) her sister falling so deeply in love. Welcome baby love, we're so glad you're ours. xoxo

"A Picture of my daughter once a week, ever week in 2015"

Lottie Cakes: Preparing for bedtime and reminding me of a time not so long ago when you were just a baby girl. During the day you are very much a little girl full of questions, strong willed and feisty. When bedtime swings around and you slip into a little nightgown or a pair of one piece pyjamas and play with my hair while drifting off after the third time of reading your bedtime story and suddenly my babies back. There you are with your squishy cheek nestled against me and your arms intertwined with mine, your little lids drooping and I cuddle you until you drift off onto your little dream land. I love watching you grow and the person you have become but these little glimpses of my baby that I get to witness every night are just oh so sweet. xo

" A portrait of my daughter once a week, every week in 2015"

Lottie Cakes: A special package arrived in the mail yesterday full of treats from loving grandmothers, cousins and friends. Inside, among other beautiful treasures for you and your soon-to-be-here sibling, were 3 beautiful ballet costumes in which you have been wearing - and dancing in - ever since.
With less than 2 weeks expected to go with our sweet impending arrival the days here have been slow, we have had all day pyjama parties while Daddy is at work, watching movies and cuddling, baking banana bread, playing dress up and making up stories. During the day you seem so grown, so knowledgable so wise beyond your two feet of growth but the evenings you are still my baby. After bath time when you slip into your one piece pajamas and cuddle up in bed, waking only to roll over in the middle of the night and give me tiny kisses, wrap your little arms around my neck and whisper you love me and that I am your favorite Mommy that has ever been.
Life is good Tiny and you too are my favorite that has ever been. xoxo

"A portrait of my daughter once a week, every week in 2015"

Lottie Cakes: A countryside adventure to see beloved friends in these last few weeks before one munchkin becomes two. We dressed in our woolies (and you in a tutu), drank warm cups of tea, visited the farmers market and sat around the fire laughing, catching up and playing dress up. All in all a magical Saturday! xo
