"A portrait of my daughter once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: This week we drove up the English countryside on our way to Scotland, Stopping along the way to visit friends and explore. In this photo you were picking your eggs for breakfast, still warm from the nest. When told you could keep three, one for each of us you got so excited you clapped your hands together, an egg in each, cracking them open and cracking us up!

Lately you have been confusing me, your so very tiny at only two years of age but sometimes you seem so wise beyond your years and I forget how truly little you really are. Then you get sleepy and curl up in my arms and I get a glimpse of my sweet newborn who always needed to be close. Your chubby little cheek squishes up against my chest and as you nod off my mind goes back to that ever smily baby and I can't believe how far we've come. I love you ginger lady.

Borough Market, London

 Borough Market, London

With London being one of the most magnificent cities in the world you could expect nothing less than the same from its finest marketplace. One of my favorite stops off when I hit LondonTown is the Borough Market. You can find so many delicious treats there, from local cheeses, chutneys and oysters to craft beers and wines to ostrich and kangaroo patties and jerky. It can get a bit pricey but it's lovely to just walk around and sample the deliciousness that's on offer and then treat yourself to a £3 glass of bubbles and a chorizo roll while enjoying the people watching. You could also cruise their online recipe page where the meals are made using the produce, meats and spices from the market and pick up some goodies to cook it up yourself at home. Yum!

Kids Clothes Week

1-3 Pinwheel Dress with added peter pan collar.
10-12 Greta Doll

This weeks Kids Clothes Week came early for me as I knew I would be on the road for the actual week. I also needed a few staple items for our adventure so our last week in Melbourne I was glued to the sewing machine, creating and mending. The pinwheel dress is a favorite of mine when paired with a lovely colorful fabric. It was inspired by the early sixties children's fashion, a Sally Draper when she was still a little cherub and before her tween wild child days. It is perfect for when you're heading somewhere a little snazzy but leaves room for childhood twirls and whirls. The Soleil apron dress is the perfect outfit for a sunny holiday or those unbearable Aussie heatwaves. It leaves the back open for a cool breeze and still keeps them in style. The Sydney Pinafore is perfect for those kids (like mine!) who hate getting dressed, its easy to slip over their head while chasing them down the corridor, you can pop it right on before they even know what hit them! And finally the Greta Doll... I wanted a rag doll for my baby-lovin lady and since I am the master of procrastination I didn't have time for trial and error DIY since I sewed her together the eve before our trip so I bought this pattern and I am so glad I did. It's super cute with a lot of alternatives and theres even a fella you can stitch up to accompany her if you so wish.

Off to Scotland, Hope you had a great KCW!

Brighton

Brighton, UK

With such luck we hit England in a sunny spell and determined to make the most of it we headed south to Brighton. It was like a wonderland for all of us there, for you there were sandpits full of kids and buckets and pails, a swimming area just your height, a pier full of games, merry-go-rounds and ice creams. For the rest of us there were cold beers, fish and chips on the beach, a smooth ocean for swims and dips and lane ways full of lovely pubs and restaurants. It was a magical day for all and your only complaint was your restriction from the roller coasters and big kid rides, you wild little soul. Just a short train ride from London, I can't believe we hadn't made it there on our previous journeys but to share it with you for the first time was definitely worth the wait!

"A portrait of my daughter once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: The pink fairy of Central London. This week has been magic, the sun is shining on LondonTown and we couldn't be luckier. You are enjoying your Grandma Jannie's hometown and you're loving running the streets of London, Hanging out with your little cousin Henry, your English counterpart, and taking in all the madness. Your English blood runs thick and you're devouring scotch eggs, fish and chips and all the other delicious delights around us. This week has been a huge change from lounging at the beach and taking long siestas but we're surrounded by family, laughter, the unlikely British sunshine and couldn't be happier.

Next week takes us up North but not before a stopover to Peppa Pig World!

"A portrait of my daughter once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: Our final day in Thailand before our next destination. Here we have stopped in the middle of Chatuchak Markets in Bangkok for a bit of lunch and a cool breeze. It's three weeks into our journey and you seemed to have grown so much and if possible you are wilder than ever. We have spent our last Thai weekend in water parks on rooftops, in markets the size of my hometown and snuggling up for long naps in preparation of the next leg of our journey. You love the local food, thank the cab drivers in Thai with a tiny bow and run wild though the streets without a care. Your dad and I joke and envision you in 16 years time with your little backpack strapped on and doing this all again solo style. It is bittersweet for me thinking how that time will fly but knowing when it does come your wings will have fully grown and you will be more than ready.

Next stop, Sri Lanka!
