Sisters

Since the day the ultrasound told us another little girl was to be I knew you and your little sibling would have a very special bond but I didn't know just how beautiful it would be until I looked out our dusty little window upon this. The other eve when we returned home there was a special package waiting on our porch, a little wooden play cabinet with tiny hooks for little tin tea cups and shelves for plates and pots and felt foods, left by a beloved friend. While you were at preschool I set up a backyard kitchen with the one one your Dada built you for your first birthday and this beautiful new addition and a side table with a couple tiny chairs for tea parties. You were so excited when you got home and begged for me to put your little sister in your play pram so she could sit up and 'play' with you. I figured this would be short lived so I did so and waited closely for you to yell to bring her back inside. I sat down for a cup of tea and to discretely peak upon you two from the glass door but when I turned around the look of sheer joy on little Rosie's face was too much and I secretly watched you feed her fake cakes and teas and whisper in her ears while you giggled away. She took each piece like it was a treasure handed down from her favourite one, which in a way it was, and of course in her baby way stuck it straight in her mouth like it was the mouth watering delight it claimed to be. Seeing you two smile and play my mind imagined all the beautiful adventures life will take you on together, even if they're just late nights up giggling at inside jokes in the comfort of your own beds. May your love for each other always be this strong - and on the days it seems wavering (heres to you teenage years!), may I hold this day in my head - with an extra large glass of Shiraz and a smile ;)

(Disclaimer - this is an incredibly stable wooden pram and I was literally two steps away - breathe easily grandmas!)

"A photo of my daughters once a week, every week in 2016"

Lottie: Joy and Madness in a tutu. Life as a four year old, extreme happiness from jumping on the couch as you prepare to go see Midsummers Night Dream in the park. So beautiful to see how Shakespeare translated for you. The fairies turned you - via face paint - into a water fairy before the show and at intermission they played, giggled and frolicked and with you and the other little ones - a dream come true. The morning after, you awoke glowing and telling me "mama, you better be so good to me today or I'm going to have to fly far away with those fairies". So Good to you I was - just in case ;)

Róisín: You precious little grub a dub! Not a food has been turned away from your sweet little mouth, you just love it. With breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks and on top of that 8 mama milk feeds a day (and night!!) and going strong. You just smile and sit at the table with us, eating, bobbing to the music and loving life. You're really living up to  your nickname - Róisín the Dream. xo

"A photo of my daughters once a week, every week in 2016"

Lottie: Little Mama, tiny carer of your wee sister. You can see in her eyes she knows it and adores you immensely. You snuggle her up, love to introduce her to new foods and experiences and run straight through the door and to her little arms whenever you're away. I can only imagine the sisterly love growing and expanding through the years and I am so excited to watch it all unfold.

Róisín: The beginning of a love affair with food, you just began and you eat it all up with excitement. You get upset when we're sitting around to meals and you aren't offered any and you have yet to reject anything yet. Here you are cuddled up in a laundry basket eating a turkey meatball while your sister and friends run amok in barefoot summertime bliss. This picture smells of sunshine, freshly cut grass and a sweaty sweet smelling babe.  Delicious.

"A photo of my daughters once a week, every week in 2016"

Lottie: Your 4th Birthday, Pirates and Princesses, a soiree you have been planning since the eve of your third was a smashing success. You changed between pirate and princess ensembles, walked the plank with fearless abandon and entertained your tiny (and grown) guests like the big girl you are becoming so quickly. Just as quickly as things changed upon your 1st birthday - with things becoming easier almost overnight, 4 has done the same way into the next level, leaving the madness of 3 behind in it's ever exhausting dust. You dress yourself, remind me when its time to brush your teeth, entertain yourself endlessly for hours with made up worlds you create in intricate fashion. My mama heart aches thinking how quickly you are growing but at the same time I am so excited about the person you are becoming and how much fun it all is.
4 years a Lottie, 4 Years a mama bear.

Róisín: Baby Pirate. You, little one, fit in perfectly to your little family. You were amazing at your big sisters birthday being passed from loved one to loved one smiling the whole way. You swam, ate fresh fruit, and snuggled up for little naps on the chests of surrogate aunties and grandparents. You are the thing baby dreams are made of.

Happy New Year! (Late)

This year my new beginnings will start a month late, a little behind - as usual with me - but with exciting things in the horizon. Last year was full of growing a little life and welcoming her, starting off as a new family of four and cuddling up close while everything unfolded to where it needed to be. This year is looking to be full of adventure, laughter and promise - watch this space as it changes up and heads in all new directions.

Happy New Year!!

"A photo of my daughters once a week, every week in 2016"

Lottie: The day before your birthday and we asked what things you wanted to do while still a 3 year old girl? So we did all your favourites, starting the day with hot chocolates, jam donuts and a bouncey castle at the market, a romp in the park, a dip in the swimming pool and finally finishing off your day at our favorite local pub with music and hot chips surrounded by people who love you, staying up too late and laughing all the way. My girl your becoming everything I could ever wish for you and more, Im so glad I get to be your mama and witness it all.

Róisín: Nothing for teething like sucking on a cold glass tucked safely in the arms of your Daddy. I love this photo because it just emphasises your ever present, already huge smile. If happiness was a being, it would be you little one.
