"A portrait of my daughter once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: 3 weeks til take off and your papa bear is working round the clock. To get in a little cuddle and some quality time with him we've been popping into the cafe for some love and a few of our last chances for Melbourne coffee (for the next few months at least!). Here you are wearing your overalls, which you refer to as your "Grandpas" since thats what he wears while working away in the garage.

Now your vocabulary is in full swing and when I am a bit stressed or sad you look at me and say" Aww, come here sweetheart!" With your tiny arms held out wide, patting me gently with your little hands as you hug me tight. Does it get any sweeter than that?

You just learned the word and meaning of scared and your previous fearless self is pretending to be "scawed" of everything, kangaroos being the main culprit. I'm hoping this stage will be passing us by soon...

Favorites from Week 21:

"A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: Shining eyes obviously on Daddy, Your favorite fella around - I get it, I'm pretty partial to him as well ;)

The twos have been revealing themselves to be like a bipolar sweetheart. One minute you want it NOW and YOUR WAY because its MINE! The next minute your telling me I'm your best friend and sneaking around to give me a million bedtime kisses and whispering you love me in my ear.  One minute you're running away like a tiny naked banshee as i chase you down to wrestle on your pajamas and the next you just want to hold my hand, cuddle and snuggle into me stroking my hair and face lovingly. Girl, you crazy! ...
No seriously, you are crazy. Love, Mom.

New Camera... Testing, Testing.

Canon EOS 600d

A walk around the block with a brand new camera and absolutely no idea what I'm doing. These shots are a beginning, something to look back on as I (hopefully!) progress, the first in many stepping stones. My trusty snapshot camera which has travelled the world with me over the last 6 years, with its scratched up little body and corners still full of sand will get a much needed rest and I will stumble through the overwhelming amount of features this giant has to offer. A challenge in creativity and a way to document the ever changing life of a little one,
two of my very favorite things :)

"A portrait of my daughter once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: The Sun gods have shone their bright lights down on us this almost-winter week and we are so grateful.
Is there anything more lovely than a ginger elf in the sunshine?! (Well not to this mama anyway ;))

Since birth you've been given a million nicknames, so may in fact everyone always said you'd never know your real one. This week you have proved them wrong and every time We call you by a term of endearment you answer with "I no Baby/Tiny/Bitty/Ishy/etc.. I Ottie!"
Oh yes you are!

"A photo of my daughter, once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: You have really started talking lately and there is no stopping you. There are made up songs, cheeky jokes and games and this week you even told us you were scared because you dreamt of baby dinosaurs - green ones - who went rawwwwr! If I take too long to answer your cries of "Mum, Mumma, Mummy!" You have even reverted to giving me a stern look and shouting out "Aimee!!" calling me by my first name. At barely 2 years old I wasn't expecting this little lady love. I guess with a family of women, all with very strong voices of their own it was bound to happen... but what does this mean for those teenage years?!

Winters Here.

IMG_6896
I'm still adjusting to the Southern Hemispheres seasons. The cold is kicking in and Christmas should be approaching, mulled wine and Thanksgiving feasts should be on the horizon. Easter has just passed and the flowers should be blooming telling us summer is just around the corner. Instead I pulled out my boots and winter jacket this week, added another duvet to the bed and started taking the days chill off by reading  a good book in a steamy bath just before bedtime. This year we're lucky - well lucky for a woman who prefers the warm sun on her back - and we will only face the winter days for a few more weeks until we take off for a year of endless summer.
Until then I will dream of the sunshine while wrapped up tight.

"A portrait of my daughter once a week, every week, in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: After a week of ear infections, sleepless painful nights and your usual wild-childness being reduced to lying subdued on the sofa, seeing you dance with your tiny umbrellas was a relief and a joy. You're back to running us ragged and cracking us up and while the snuggles were so sweet we're glad to have you up to your old antics again!
