"A portrait of my daughter once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: Making chocolate chip pancakes at your (great) Grandmas. Your smile says it all!

Cousins.

Reunited and it feels so good!

Tiny friends since day one. Seeing you two together cracks me up, swells my heart and makes me realize how lucky you are to be only two months apart and so close, even though most of the time you are physically so far away.  I love you small ladies, may your days always be as carefree as these ones we are sharing now, with the wind in our hair, the sun on our faces and the earth beneath our bare feet.

"A portrait of my daughter once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: Lottie Cakes: Two words for the phase we are entering = Wild. Child. I thought those two words already encompassed you but you've taken things to a whole new level. The fresh country air and endless grass to run through in your bare tiny feet have opened you up completely and away you go. Refusing to wear clothes, the only shoes you'll allow on your feet are your rainbow gumboots and the combination of these two looks paired with you always dancing wildly with your arms thrashing through the air create quite a sight little one! Matched with your tiny partner in crime and blood – your cousin 2 months your senior and you two are unstoppable. I love you my girl and everyone says I should be grateful you're so full of life and love (and I so am!) but right now
this mama needs a nap... xo

Coney Island

Coney Island, Brooklyn

New York City is one of my favorite places in the world, it's got everything and it has it all the time. It's crazy and busy and wild, which is why occasionally - if you just happen to be there on one of those perfect sunny days - you need to jump on the F Train and escape towards Brooklyn to bask in the glory and seaside fun that is Coney Island. Dine on hotdogs and Margaritas, swim in the choppy seas, ride the roller coasters and enjoy the endless people watching on the boardwalk. Then just dust off the sand, wipe the mustard from your lips and board the train back to the city so nice, they named it twice.

"A Portrait of my daughter once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: ... And were officially home! After 14 hours on the Greyhound we are tucked away in the last days of summertime with our family. It's been so nice seeing you experience childhood as I knew it, barefoot and fancy free. Whole afternoons of entertainment can come from the end of a hose,  grass in between our toes and sticky chins from popsicles in the sunshine. We've had corn on the cob for every dinner grilled straight on the bbq and fresh fish caught from your daddy just hours before.
After almost a year since seeing everyone you got off the bus and ran straight into your grandmas arms, giving them big kisses and excited giggles. Taking your cousins hand you two led each other down the street like you saw each other every day and you knew your grandpas house right away. When we reached the countryside you ran into your great-grandpas office knowing exactly where to find him for a cuddle.
It goes to show love remembers.

The Golden Circle

The Golden Circle, Iceland

A 300 kilometer / 190 mile magical loop from the capital to central Iceland and back around. Featuring the Geysir - from which all others are named, a waterfall of massive proportions and the original parliament to name a few. A wonderful way to spend a day exploring, whether driving, bus touring or hitching along for the beautiful ride. We hired a car and waited for a day where we felt like a long, lazy ride and taking our time whilst taking in the lush scenery and slow cups of tea along the way. The Icelandic scenery is like no other I have seen, the air is so fresh and the sunshine so soothing you just want to lay back and nap underneath while it rests softly upon your face. If you decide to go along for the ride be sure to bring waterproof boots, lots of layers and leave plenty of time for aimless wanderings.
