"A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: This week we took it easy little one. We have had so much going on and with winter and our upcoming adventures approaching faster than we realize it was time to take some space out and just be together. Instead of running around we stayed at home and cuddled close. We slept in and had long pancake breakfasts, you had all day pajama parties at your friends house and we even had family date night at the drive in. We loaded our car with freshly washed duvets, all the pillows we could find and our favorite snacks. You were so excited when the big screen lit up and you snuggled in between us, tapping your little hands on our backs in tune to the music. I don't think you caught any of the movie but instead took delight in using the car as a jungle gym, a fort and just a general playground.
You woke up the morning after and the first thing you said was "Mummy, want to watch movie?"

"A picture of my daughter, once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: It was a big week for us, petting zoos, Peppa Pig parties, playdates, festivals ... But your favorite of all was St Patty's Day. Our local Irish establishments were a bit crazy for your tiny-ness but you didn't let that stop you. You ran the streets of Melbourne, stopping in front of every venue playing music and dancing like crazy. You danced and teased the people on the streets making everyone laugh and running your mama ragged. When we returned to the quiet house, leaving our friends and your papa to finish the evening you cuddled up in my arms, stroked my hair and smiled saying "You my Mummy, I love you my Mummy" before falling asleep blissfully in my arms. How did I get so lucky with you
my girl...

"A Picture of my daughter, once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: Your picture this week tells a very lovely tale little one. When you would visit your Great Uncle in the hospital after his stroke last year you would sit on his bed and together you would learn to eat, him relearning and you for the first time. This week when all met up for a family lunch, while he struggled to converse with the rest of us, you two chatted away endlessly and in your own way, cracking each other up the whole time. A beautiful example in the circle of life.

Sew: Leggings (Pattern Coming Soon!)

If I had to chose one staple in the little one's wardrobe (and mine for that matter) it has to be leggings. They're pants, warmth under a skirt, comfy pajama bottoms, an under layer on a snowy day and something cozy to slip into after a swim. They're the everything item you can never have enough of. Watch this space for an upcoming simple and great fitting pattern which will be debuting soon!

Sew: Bucket Hats!

Summertime is a busy time with a toddler, we're swimming and playing and visiting and pretty much always on the move. Up until last week we only had one little red sunhat which was constantly being left at play school or the grandparents or occasionally tossed out of the pram leading to long treasure hunts and ending in a hot, disheveled mama. I decided last week to rectify that situation and pulled out my box of scraps and got to work. I struck gold and found the BEST pattern for a reversible sunhat and went a bit crazy on the late night sewing sessions. Best of all - it was FREE! Having a little girl is so much fun, she woke up in the morning and saw them sitting on the table  ...
"Hat Mummy? Cuuuuuuuute!" Thanks Tiny.

Oh! and the pattern is here ----------> Bucket Hats.

"A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: At a visit to the farm you see two goats snuggling into each other enjoying the sunshine. One of them has a great overbite which you mistake for a snack. "What eat mummy? What eat?"
You knew all the animal sounds and the sheeps baaaa! was particularly impressive you spunky little thing. xo

"A Portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week in 2014"

Lottie Cakes: A Sunday Session- Tiny Style. It has a much different definition to mama then it used to, but your way looks just as much fun!

You danced and sang and laughed til you passed out on the walk home. I look forward to our end of the week family time, Daddy's work week ends and our time all together begins. xo

Sew: Baby Doll Basket

A very special birthday present is finally complete (a month late, but with all of the February festivities it was a perfect end to the craziness of the month). Tiny loves her babies, she cuddles them, scolds them, feeds and loves and hugs them. Then when it's time for bed she wraps them in a tea towel, gives them a snuggle and a smooch and rocks them to 'bed'... Only there is no bed. When I saw Dana's newest pattern - the Baby Doll Basket - I knew just what this little lady would love for her big day.
The pattern comes in 3 sizes, includes a mattress and a pillow and instructions for making a blanket. Dana walks you step by step through the whole process with loads of tips and photos making the whole sewing experience clear and easy. There are a lot of pieces to cut and a few thick layers to get through, but overall it was simple, fun and the finished product is oh so sweet..
